Design and connections
The M1 SDAC is utilizes a 32-bit DAC and sample-converter of exceptional quality. This circuitry offers conversion at sample rates up to and including 192 kHz, meaning it can accept the very best high-resolution music files available today. The fully asynchronous USB input is designed to deliver exceptional quality at all sample rates and from all file types. It's compatible with computers running Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.

The Bluetooth wireless input deliver high-performance sound from mobile devices and uses the aptX system for stunning audio quality over the entire audio band. It accepts up to 24bit/48kHz files, which are upsampled to 24/192. It's also backwards compatible with previous Bluetooth versions, so you'll be able to use a wide range of portable and computer sources. A USB input lets you easily connect your computer or hard-drive, and two analog inputs with RCA connectors make the M1 SDAC equally at home with more traditional sources.

Other digital connections include SPDIF Coax or Toslink Optical cables or, for ultimate performance, AES/EBU digital audio with XLR (balanced) connectors. Both the SPDIF Coax and AES/EBU inputs are capable of accepting high-resolution 24bit/192kHz digital data. The digital coaxial, balanced and USB inputs all accept music files up to 24/192, while all the digital inputs are internally upsampled to 24-bit/192kHz. There's a coaxial and an optical output, too, plus an analog-to-digital converter within the DAC section, allowing a digital output for any input.

A headphone amp module, full infrared remote control and 12v trigger connections round out the convenient features of this well-thought-out component.

The Classic faithfully reproduces the harmonic structure of complex musical passages, preserving the distinctive tonal character of each instrument and voice. The space of the sound stage and the ambience of the concert hall are conveyed in realistic, three dimensional perspective. Musical transients are reproduced naturally, with realistic impact, but without the artificial enhancement which characterizes so many "hi-fi" components. Never imposing its own distractions, the Classic invites the listener to enjoy the musical performance. The Classic preamplifier is a zero-feedback circuit. It has a single triode amplifi-er direct coupled to a high-current output stage. This minimizes the output impedance, making the Classic compatible with nearly all installations, including those requiring long lengths of interconnect cable. DC plate voltages are supplied by a very low impedance discrete regulator, designed to prevent the power supply from imposing its own colorations on the audio signal. A regulated filament supply further isolates the unit from ac line voltage fluctuations. Premium quality component parts are specified for the Classic to assure full realization of the potential performance of the circuit designs and to dependably sustain that performance for years to come. Precision, metal-film resistors yield low noise performance for greatest clarity. Polypropylene and polystyrene capacitors, used exclusively in both the audio circuits and the regulated plate voltage supplies, offer maximum temporal accuracy. Phono equalization in the Classic is accomplished with 1% tolerance precision parts to assure tonal neutrality. Industrial quality controls offer extended life and maintain a crisp, precise feel.

Cambridge Audio's 651P phono preamplifier, allows virtually all turntables on the market to flourish by using a sophisticated electronic circuit design that has been created to accommodate the two most commonly found types of phono cartridge used with modern turntables: Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC). Designed to bring out the hi-fi realism inherent to vinyl's grooves, the 651P is one of our most cost-effective, performance-enhancing creations.The 651P uses advanced amplification circuitry to provide the lowest possible distortion and noise. Compatible with the audiophile's cartridge choice, Moving Coil, the 651P model also employs high-spec multi-parallel capacitors to achieve exceptional RIAA accuracy. In a further nod towards its audiophile credentials the 651P features a subsonic filter to remove the unwanted and disruptive effects of low-frequency energy. And in line with Cambridge Audio's commitment to the environment, the new 651P is fitted with a power switch to allow consumption to be zeroed when not in use.
